One day a farmer was looking to diversify his portfolio and stumbled upon a berry that would grow in the midwest. This berry is unlike any other berry because it needs the cold weather to set the fruit. The farmer began researching the health benefits of the Aronia berry, and found that it is the healthiest berry known to man. After sharing it with his family and seeing their health improve, him and his brother decided to grow it. This was a new beginning for Starr brothers, JC & Joel.

The Starr brothers could see the potential to diversify agriculture in Nebraska so they reached out to other local farmers in the area, including Granstrom Farms. Both Starrs and Granstroms have been farming organic for over 10 years and wanted to apply their organic techniques to the Aronia berries. They have found that organic creates a more healthy environment for their other crops such as blue corn, yellow corn, soybeans and ancient wheat. A healthy berry deserves a healthy environment!
